Models + Patterns is an adult professional-learning service operated by McQuillen Interactive Pty. Ltd. in Australia. This policy explains the personal information used by the website, learning platform, and institutional LTI integrations.
1. Scope and our role
For a direct Models + Patterns account, McQuillen Interactive operates the service and handles your requests. When your university, employer, or training provider launches an activity through LTI, that institution normally controls the education record and we process it to deliver the contracted service. Requests about institution-provided records may therefore be referred to the institution.
The service is not directed to children and does not provide K–12 child or guardian account workflows.
2. Data we collect

Account and contact data, including name, email address, organization, and support communications.

Enrollment, activity, progress, assessment responses and evaluations, completion, badges, and certificates.

LTI identifiers, institution, course context, launch role, resource links, and grade-passback status for institution-provided access.

Simulation inputs, outputs, execution evidence, errors, and resource-usage records.

Purchase, credit, refund, and Stripe transaction references. Payment-card details are handled by Stripe and are not stored by us.

Security and service logs such as IP address, browser or user agent, timestamps, request identifiers, and audit events.

Optional product analytics when analytics is enabled for the deployment.
We do not sell personal information.
3. How we use information

Provide accounts, learning activities, assessment, simulations, progress, credentials, and support.

Connect institutional launches and return grades when the institution enables grade passback.

Process purchases, credits, refunds, and institutional usage statements.

Secure, audit, diagnose, and improve the service.

Meet legal obligations, resolve disputes, and apply valid legal holds.
4. Sharing and overseas processing
We disclose information only as needed to the institution that provides your access, contracted hosting, email, monitoring, analytics, simulation, and payment providers, professional advisers, or authorities responding to a valid legal demand. Providers are limited to operating the service under contract.
Providers may process information outside Australia. We assess those arrangements and use contractual and technical safeguards appropriate to the information and applicable law.
5. Retention and deletion
We retain information only for the service, institutional record schedule, security, credential-verification, accounting, dispute, and legal purposes that apply. Institutional contracts may set a different minimum or maximum. A legal hold suspends deletion.

Product analytics and authentication activity are reviewed after 180 days and normally deleted after 12 months.

Private simulation workspaces are normally deleted after 90 days; necessary learning evidence may remain separately.

Learning and credential evidence is reviewed at least annually and retained only for the applicable course, institutional, or verification requirement.

Security audit and financial records follow documented security, tax, accounting, dispute, and proof-of-deletion periods.
Approved deletion requests remove or de-identify application and provider data and leave a non-identifying completion receipt. Encrypted backups expire on their normal rotation; restoration procedures use the receipt to prevent erased identities from silently returning.
6. Access, correction, and complaints
You may ask for access to, correction of, or deletion or de-identification of personal information, subject to lawful retention requirements. For institution-provided access, contact your institution first so it can verify and authorize the request. Direct-account users may email privacy@mcquilleninteractive.com.
We handle Australian requests and complaints under the Australian Privacy Principles. We also support institutions meeting applicable United States education-record obligations. Other rights are applied where the relevant law covers the service and request.
